Listen… He is always speaking to you.

So today was one of those days where I woke up and felt that I have lost my purpose. I think we all have these moments where we do not know if our day to day has any meaning. I have been so caught up in my work and just going through the motion of life. I honestly questioned if there was anything more to everything then just the mundane going to work and back home…

This is where we know He is with us all the time. Even if we don’t know or are too stuck in the insignificant things that take up our day to day to realize that there is a plan. A purpose to our lives. As I sat there at work, going through the motion. Feeling lost and questioning what am I doing all this for. I receive a message on my phone. It was a message from my son sharing an Instagram clip saying the following…

“In a world full of men not wanting to turn out like their dad, I’d be happy to become half the man he is. The man who showed me what hard work truly means. The man who showed me what it means to sacrifice for your family. The man that showed me what it looks like to never give up. The man who showed me how to be a man. I’m proud to be your son. I love you dad.

I can’t find the words to express the emotions that came over me… This was God speaking through my son. This was the sign I needed in that moment to show me what my purpose is. This was the proof to show that He is with me. That I am on the right path and that everything I am doing has a purpose. I am not a selfish person. I am willing to lay down my life and everything I own if it will be of benefit to those I deeply care about. I do not long for material things. I am well aware that all the material things in my life are temporary.

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I am by far the least perfect person, but this I know. My eyes will never stray from his gaze. I will always fall short of His glory and I know I am made perfect in his image and by his blood we all have been forgiven. Trust in him to make your path straight and do not take your gaze off of him.

Matthew 14:22-33 NIV

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said, Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.
